Modern Infra-red Heating Keeps Customers Warm at Britain’s Jump Giants Venues

Case Study – Heating Large Open Buildings and Warehouses

The Problem

Jump Giants are a UK based entertainments company who have a number of venues throughout Britain.  The venues consist of a number of trampoline based excercise themes and are housed in very large uninsulated buildings such as hangers and factory buildings.  The problem is that it is very expensive to keep the whole building warm and is impossible to keep catering areas to a temperature where it is comfortable to sit and have a cup of tea or eat.

The Solution

By installing a number of Leisure Heating Summerglow Infra-red heaters in specific areas, customers are now kept warm by the direct radiant heat.  These areas include the Cafe and dining area, the reception area and the waiting area.  Jump Giants at the Loughborough site were the first to benefit from the infra-red heaters followed quickly by the Jump Giants venue at Gateshead near Newcastle.

The Benefits

Customers of Jump Giants are now kept warm directly from the infra-red heating without the need to heat very large volumes of air.  Customers are now more likely to stay for longer in a more comfortable environment and more likely to make a return visit knowing that they will be warm enough even in the depths of winter

Electric Infra-red Heating

Infra-red heating is based on the transfer of thermal energy by electromagnetic radiation.  Infra-red emitters are classified according to the temperature dependent peak wavelength which they emit and can be short-wave, medium-wave and long-wave.

Short-wave infra-red heaters have the ability to heat people directly without having to heat up the air first.  They are compact, energy efficient and easily installed.

The element used has a thermal response similar to an electric light bulb so is instant.  Infra-red heaters can be easily used with PIR movement detectors or with power controllers.
